How Ironworks Gate Co. Came to Southlake

Victor Salinas spent his first decade in the gate trade watching the same thing happen over and over. A homeowner in Southlake would call a company, get a quote that sounded reasonable, and then watch the final invoice climb for reasons nobody explained clearly. Or they’d pay for a repair that lasted six months before the same hinge started sagging again. The work was there, the demand was constant, and yet the standard of service never seemed to match what people in this area actually expected from a tradesman.

When he was asked to lead the Ironworks Gate Co. branch here, the question wasn’t whether he could fix gates. He’d been doing that for years. The question was whether he could build the kind of gate company he’d wanted to work for when he started: one that quotes a price before the work begins, stands behind the repair in writing, and treats a homeowner’s driveway gate as something that should work for decades without anyone thinking about it. That’s the branch we run today. Same brand, same standard, but built for the people who live here.

Victor Salinas’s Personal Connection to the Gate Repair Trade

Victor didn’t grow up dreaming about gate hinges. He found the trade the way a lot of people find the work they’re meant to do: by accident, and then by obsession. Years ago, he was working a job that had nothing to do with metal or motors, and a friend needed help hanging a heavy driveway gate that two other companies had walked away from. It was an old iron gate, the kind with real weight to it, and it had been binding against the post for so long that the opener had burned itself out trying to move it.

He remembers the first time he got it right. They re-set the post, rebuilt the hinge mounts, and ran a new opener. When that gate swung open for the first time, smooth and silent, something clicked. Not just the motor. It was the feeling of fixing something that was genuinely broken, of making a thing work the way it was supposed to work when it was first hung. He started taking side jobs, then apprenticing under older welders and opener technicians who taught him what the shortcuts looked like so he’d know to avoid them.

What keeps him in the trade today is simpler than you’d think. Every gate tells you something about the person who lives behind it. Some homeowners want privacy. Some want security. Some just want the gate to open when they push the button and close behind them without groaning like it’s in pain. Victor’s job is to listen to what the gate is saying and fix the problem underneath it, not just quiet the symptom. If he weren’t doing this, he’d probably still be fixing something. That’s the kind of mind the work attracts.

Meet Victor Salinas - The Person Behind Every Job

Victor Salinas is the Owner and Founder of the Southlake branch of Ironworks Gate Co. He has spent more than a decade working on driveway and estate gates across North Texas, from welding and hinge repair to opener replacement and access control wiring. His training came the old way: learning from experienced journeymen, taking apart every type of opener he could get his hands on, and fixing the jobs other companies had given up on.

What separates Victor from a corporate franchise technician is that he still does the work. He’s the one who looks at the gate, the one who asks about how it’s been behaving, the one who decides whether a part can be saved or needs to be replaced. He holds himself to a simple standard: if he wouldn’t put it on his own house, he won’t put it on yours. And when the job is done, he wants you to forget about your gate entirely, because a gate that works correctly is a gate you never have to think about.

Our Promise to Southlake Homeowners

You get the price before we start. Not an estimate that adjusts upward once the gate is in pieces. A written quote, agreed on, and that’s the number on the bill. If we find something unexpected while we’re working, we stop and call you. No surprises.

We use parts that last. Cheap hinges and off-brand opener boards fail early, and then you’re paying for the same repair twice. That’s a false economy we won’t participate in. And we stand behind every job in writing. If it’s not right, we come back. That’s not a slogan. That’s the Keystone Standard, applied to gates: 90 days, in writing, no arguing.

Our Credentials

When you let someone work on your gate, you’re letting them onto your property, near your family, and into the system that keeps your home secure. Here’s what that means for us:

  • State-licensed: every pro working under our name is required to hold the license their state requires. We don’t ask you to take our word for it.
  • Insured and bonded: coverage is in place as a requirement, not a selling point. It protects you and it protects the job.
  • Years of local experience: Victor has worked on gates across this part of North Texas long enough to know which failures show up on which properties and why.
  • Strong local reputation: the majority of our work comes from homeowners who were referred to us by a neighbor or a friend. That tells you what you need to know.

A license means the person at your gate met a real standard before they ever touched your property. Insurance means an accident doesn’t become your problem. Experience means we’ve seen the failure mode before and know what fixes it for good instead of for six months.

Rooted in Southlake

We work in Southlake, Trophy Club, Grapevine, Keller, Colleyville, and the surrounding communities. These are neighborhoods where people stay for decades, and when we fix a gate on one street, we know we’ll be driving past it for years. That’s a different kind of accountability than a company that parachutes in from another city. We answer the phone with a person, we show up when we say we will, and we do the kind of work we’d want done at our own homes. A company that plans to be here in thirty years acts like it.
